Here in Plymouth tension rises as the time passes...
All my preparations were going smoothly (even fixing the neverending Autohelm story), until this morning when I blew it all by ruining a new print for my special masthead light that a good friend had made. He made the first version of the light, and when I told him I was having a problem with it he immediately started work on an improved version. My parents took the new print with them last night and this morning I mounted it. But, silly me, I connected the power cable into the outgoing socket and blew the unit. So this afternoon we had a long visit in the local electronics shop and bought a bag full of resistors, opto couplers, etc, to make a new LED driver unit. At this moment, Servaes (the Dutch friend, who owns a company called M8, Robust Electronics) is working on a new diagram for us to make this unit. In the mean time, we found Stephan, who is an Austrian supporter of Reini Gelder, the only Austrian entrant, in the local bar. Stephan is a medical student but also an elecronics expert (as he says...). Anyway, he was quite impressed by Servaeses work but was not scared off to help us with this light. At the moment he is soldering all components again. a job so difficult that I didn't dare to do it. So far, so good. And he just found one suspect connection...
